Harriers
Cross-country has gone from strength to strength in recent years producing some talented athletes and instilling in our pupils a love of running
The Harriers cross-country squad trains with boys and girls, from Fifth Form through to Sixth Form, split into two groups based on ability. The squads have had great success in recent years. We have seen many members qualifying for national championships, coming on the podium and even winning the county championships. There is a busy calendar of inter-school races in the spring term, with races at Harrow, Marlborough, Radley, Bloxham, and the King Henry VIII Relays.
The Harriers are coached by a dedicated team from the Common Room, many of whom are keen runners that train and compete regularly. The sport is unique in having staff and pupils train together giving an excellent atmosphere in the Club.
Tough sessions challenge our top runners but there is always a supportive atmosphere. Pupils are encouraged to think about their training, what the purpose of each session is, the importance of recovery, giving them tools to carry on their training well beyond school. The Harriers cater for all pupils who are willing to work hard and improve their fitness.
