Community Partnerships

St Edward’s is fortunate to have exceptional facilities, including The North Wall Arts Centre, the Music School and 90 acres of pitches and all-weather surfaces for sports. Many clubs, societies, institutions and organisations make use of the School’s buildings and spaces, including the Oxfordshire Bulls for their cricket programme, Musical Youth Company Oxford (MYCO) and Northern House Academy.

Throughout the year we organise a number of sporting, academic and music events. A particular highlight is the Cross-Country Fun Run for KS2 pupils, delivered in partnership with The River Learning Trust. Our Science of Christmas lectures given by our teachers are always well attended by local primary schools and finish with a visit from Santa and carols around the Christmas tree, accompanied by the School’s Brass Band. A number of St Edward’s staff members deliver regular local lessons and workshops in subjects and sports including French, Maths, Gymnastics, Rugby and Tennis.

St Edward’s is the proud host of many academic conferences and talks, including a yearly Biology Symposium in partnership with the Oxford International Biomedical Centre, and the Philosophy of Religion Conference, in partnership with the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. Invitations to these events are extended to pupils from local secondary schools. We recently invited the van Tulleken Brothers of Operation Ouch to speak on Global Health and Health Inequality and Vladym Prystaiko, Ukraine’s former ambassador to the UK to talk about his career in politics.

Our chefs not only produce consistently delicious and varied meals for the school but on Tuesdays they also provide full hot meals, including puddings, for vulnerable families identified by Oxford Mutual Aid. During the festive period they provide Christmas meals for Northern House Academy, the Limes Club, and Cutteslowe Community Centre.

St Edward’s has a long history of working in partnership with local schools, charities, and community organisations in and around North Oxford. Sixth Form pupils visit a number of these on a weekly basis as part of our Teddies Collaborates Programme.
