Health Centre

The Health Centre is staffed by a multidisciplinary health care team who all strive to offer the best available care to each individual who comes through the door.

Dr Olivia Beardmore, the School Doctor

Our aim is to offer a welcoming, caring, non-judgmental holistic approach to all members of the school community. We provide 24-hour nursing care for those suffering as a result of illness, accident and injury as well as a ‘listening ear’ for anyone who would like to chat about any aspect of their health or wellbeing. The nurses take part in relevant and motivational health education and health promotion initiatives whilst many of them have particular areas of interest and expertise that enables us to care for pupils with complex on-going health needs.

Pupils can ‘drop in’ between 7.30am and 9.30pm to see a nurse, although for non-urgent matters we ask them to come during their breaks or their free time. For their own safety all pupils coming to the Health Centre will be logged in and out on the school’s computer system.

St Edward’s partners with Meliora Medical Group, who provide a specialist ‘School Doctor’ service for schools. Appointed and supported by both St Edward’s and Meliora Medical Group, Dr Olivia Beardmore is the School Doctor at St Edward’s and is a core part of the pastoral team. Dr Beardmore holds regular NHS surgeries in the School’s Health Centre, providing continuity of care for our boarders, and contributing her considerable expertise through all facets of health and wellbeing at the School.
