Nicholas Samuel

Class of 1984

Nicholas Samuel (Tilly’s, 1979-1984)

The following was kindly provided by Penny Samuel, Nick’s wife.

Nick Samuel died on 30th January 2022 aged only 55 after being suddenly taken ill a few days earlier.  He leaves behind his wife Penny, and his three children Jake, Grace and Lexie. He is deeply missed by everyone who ever knew him.

His funeral was attended by hundreds of friends who will always remember him as a fun, kind and loyal man with a welcoming smile and sparkling blue eyes!

Nick spent most of his career as an Accountant in different industries, as well as running the family farm in Cheshire.  He continued to love the sports he played during his time at St Edward’s but his main passion in life was fishing.  Many happy times were spent with his friends and family in Abersoch and Trearddur Bay in North Wales and he was never more content than on his boat ‘Minnow’ catching whatever fish came his way.

He, like any father, could not have been prouder of his children who have become the best legacy a man could ever wish for.

“He knew nothing of envy and hate, his soul was full of work and honesty, and of one thing, quite out of date, called Modesty”

He is sadly the second son of Peter Samuel (Field House, 1948-1953) to have died, as his brother Paul (Field House, 1976-1981) was killed in a climbing accident in 2018.  The Samuel family continue to muster the strength to keep living life to the best of their capability and as I say to my children, “go live your best life”.
