Compliance Manager

St. Edward’s Oxford is looking for a committed and capable Compliance Manager to play a key role in developing and promoting a positive Health and Safety (H&S) culture at the school.

You will develop, evaluate, implement and manage the school’s H&S policies and procedures, ensuring that the school has a robust and compliant approach to all H&S matters. You will implement processes and procedures to ensure the safety of staff, students and visitors, overseeing policy, monitoring and inspection, risk assessment and the delivery of training.

You will be the primary contact for the external DPO (Data Protection Officer) service and as such, will be responsible for monitoring data protection compliance and supporting the external DPO on data protection issues. You will also act as intermediary between data subjects, the school and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

We are looking for a well-qualified individual with recent experience in a Health and Safety role at a similar level. You will have an understanding of the Independent School’s Inspectorate regulatory requirements, National Minimum Standards for Boarding, current UK Health, Environment and Safety and Fire Safety legislation and Data Protection legislation (UK GDPR). A NEBOSH and First Aid at Work Certificate is essential.

You will possess previous experience of managing and advising on regulatory compliance matters, and of planning and implementing effective policies and procedures. You will also need excellent leadership, communication and analytical skills.
