Boarding House Non-Residential Matron

Closing Date:

St Edward’s Oxford is looking for a caring and empathetic individual to play a key role within our boarding community as a Non-Residential Matron.

As a Matron, your main responsibility will be the pastoral care of pupils. This includes safeguarding pupils’ mental, physical and emotional well-being, as well as their participation in school and house life.

A high level of skill and knowledge is required to assist in the management of child protection and safeguarding issues, handling confidential personal and medical information, and managing difficult situations.

Matrons are expected to be a visible presence who spend significant amounts of time around the boarding house, working with pupils and the boarding house team to ensure high standards are achieved and maintained. In addition to this, Matrons have a significant housekeeping and administrative role, ensuring the house runs smoothly and is well presented.

Appropriate training will be provided to ensure Matrons remain up to date with best practice and have opportunities for continued professional development.

The ideal candidate will have strong listening and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well as part of a team, and a commitment to safeguarding children and young people. Previous experience is desirable, but not essential. However, you will demonstrate the ability to offer a high level of pastoral care to young people.
