Teddies 2 Wheeler Cycling Challenge

From cyclists tackling the 100 mile route early in the morning to families enjoying a 5 mile ride by the Thames, a fantastic day was enjoyed by all at the Teddies 2-Wheeler on Sunday.

300 cyclists set out on routes of 100, 50, 25 and 5 miles through the glorious springtime countryside. Despite the chilly temperatures, they were spurred on by plentiful snacks at the food stops en route, smiling marshals and the knowledge that the start and finish times were being recorded!

It was wonderful to see so many St Edward’s parents, pupils, staff and OSE cycling as well as many people from nearby cycling clubs and the local community. A special mention must go to shells James Churchman and Fergus Flory who both successfully completed the 100 mile ride.

Lots of pupils got involved in very practical ways, too, allowing the day to run smoothly and providing fun fete-style stalls to raise extra money for charity.

Thank you to all those raising sponsorship. This will go to SeeSaw, who provide grief support for children and young people in Oxfordshire, and the St Edward’s Bursary Fund. SeeSaw were represented on the 50 mile ride by their fundraiser, Jane Elliott, and at the start/finish by Kathy and her dog, Do Good, who work with children and families when a parent or sibling is dying.

There is still time to raise sponsorship and win some fantastic prizes including an excellent Orro Oxygen road bike. You can send in sponsorship any time, but we will close the prize competition on 1st June.
