The Simeon Society was established to recognise all those who have made provision for St Edward’s in their wills.
In the last three years, bequests from Simeon Society members have totalled in excess of £250,000, helping to build a fund that will one day allow St Edward’s to offer a needs-blind education.
A legacy is one of the simplest and most flexible ways of making your gift, and may allow you to support the School in a way in which you may not be able to during your lifetime. The tax benefits of a legacy gift to a charity are considerable — all such bequests can be made free from Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax, so you could reduce the total tax burden levied on your estate to your family.
Making a legacy pledge to St Edward’s is quite straightforward. It can be done either when making a will for the first time or, by adding a codicil to an existing will.
Any member of the St Edward’s community who chooses to include the School in their will is entitled to become a member of the Simeon Society. If you would like to become a member or receive further information about making a legacy pledge, please contact The Development Office on 01865 319362. All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.
