Anthony George Britnell (Sing’s, 1952-1956)

Died 23rd April 2025, aged 86.

The following obituary was kindly provided by Anthony’s brother, Michael Britnell (Sing’s, 1954-1958).

After leaving Teddies in 1956, Anthony worked at an Actuarial firm in London and was called up for 2 years National Service in the RAF involving radar fitting which was undertaken in Scotland.  On completion he attended the City University in London for a BSc, studying electrical engineering and joining Airmec-AEI in High Wycombe after graduating, which merged with Plessey in 1969. 

Anthony married Penny in 1970, later having a son and a daughter.  They had to return to Scotland for Plessey later that year. Subsequently relocating again with Plessey in 1971, this time to Poole and living in Wimborne.  In 1979 Allen-Bradley bought Plessey and Anthony left in 1982 to work, initially self-employed and finally at Hamworthy Engineering, retiring in 2004.

His interests included joining Parkstone Yacht Club sailing a Wayfarer boat, singing in Wimborne Minster Choral Society and the Poole Nomad Male Voice Choir and later took up bird watching.
