Fourth and Fifth Forms
Pupils at St Edward’s can take either the IGCSE or GCSE, which is decided on the basis of selecting the best path to suit an individual’s particular strengths. Both options fit comfortably within the structure of our integrated five-year programme developing core skills into behaviours of success, and pupils achieve excellent results. All pupils study English, Maths, the three Sciences and a Modern Foreign Language. We offer a range of optional subjects that are consistently reviewed to reflect contemporary society such that GCSEs in History, Greek and Latin take their place with Arts, Physical Education and Drama.
Alongside the core academic programme, pupils at St Edwards are given the opportunity to develop further the learning skills from the Shell Curriculum. All Fourth Form pupils undertake the Warden’s Project; a research based project of their own choosing in which they create an artefact and present to an external assessor.
The tutoring programme underpins all of the academic elements with one-to-one support provided in coaching students through their decision making including Sixth Form choices. They are also aided by Elevate Education who provide seminars in research skills and exam preparation and in the Fifth Form all pupils have one-to-one career interviews with our Head of Careers, James Vaughan Fowler.
