Why work at St Edward’s?

The School has a reputation for happiness, friendliness and the strength of our pastoral care, something that is as true for our staff as it is for our pupils. Some 400 staff, including 100 teachers, work alongside roughly 700 pupils across our 100-acre campus in North Oxford. The pupil body is made up of roughly 40% girls to 60% boys and the significant majority of our pupils board in one of our 13 Houses.

In the Sixth Form, pupils have the option of selecting either the A Level or the IB Diploma course, meaning teaching staff benefit from added variety as well as the nuances and merits of each programme. Results for Sixth Formers have been rising steadily, with over 80% of pupils going on to rigorous courses among the top universities in the UK and overseas. Work is nearing completion on an auspicious new project, the ‘Quad Development’, which will see a new Hall, Library, Reading Room and Study Centre added, opening in 2020. This project embodies much of the Teddies ethos; as the Tatler Schools Guide puts it, ‘Leading the way in educational initiatives is instinctive for this dynamic Oxford school.’
