Rowing Camp

Peter Rudge, Master i/c Rowing writes: The Autumn Term can feel a long one and the Christmas holidays are always looked forward to with anticipation which makes the commitment of 56 rowers all the more impressive as they sacrificed the first week of their holidays to attend the pre-season training camp here at School. It is a valuable opportunity to prepare our more serious rowers for the upcoming competitions and helps us keep pace with many of our opponent schools who have been in full training since September. For the first time we had more Fourth Form girls on the training camp than Fourth Form boys and both squads show a great deal of promise this year. Our Fifth Form boys also made a strong start while both our boys’ and girls’ senior squads have a strength in depth which will ensure competition for seats in our 1st VIIIs will be hard fought. With the recent flooding currently limiting the rowing that can be done it is great that so many have banked some serious training time already and it will hopefully pay dividends when they compete this term.
