A Level Results 2025
Many congratulations to our A Level pupils on an excellent set of results which completes a very successful summer for the outgoing Upper Sixth, surpassing even last year’s outstanding results.
Across the whole year group, 46% of all grades were achieved at A*/A or 7/6 and 81% were achieved at A*-B or 7-5.
Within today’s excellent overall results, there are outstanding outcomes for individual subjects: the A*/A rate in Art this year is 90%; in Chemistry, it has almost doubled to 71%; in Mathematics, it has risen by nearly 20% year-on-year to reach 61%. Among the larger cohort subjects, the A*-B rate stands above 90% in Art, Biology, Chemistry and Further Mathematics.
In an exceptional year for university outcomes, nearly three quarters of the cohort secured places at Russell Group universities, the top destinations in the UK, including three at Oxford and Cambridge. St Edward’s pupils pursue a remarkable range of academic interests after their time at the School: this year will see pupils studying History of Art and History at the University of Cambridge; Physics at the University of Oxford; Medicine at the University of St Andrews; Liberal Arts and Economics at Durham University; Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh; Political Economy at King’s College London; Engineering Mathematics at the University of Bristol; Product and Industrial Design at the University of the Arts London; and Fashion Marketing at the University of Manchester, among very many other academically-enriching and career-enhancing courses.
Internationally, destinations for this year’s A Level pupils include Harvard, the University of Southern California, New York University, Trinity College Dublin, Hong Kong University and the University of Sydney, many of which appear in the QS World University Top 100 rankings. This year, 58% of pupils secured places in the QS Top 100 against 44% last year.
Alastair Chirnside, the Warden, said, ‘I am delighted to see Teddies pupils achieving results which give them access to the best universities in the world. The academic curriculum at St Edward’s has been transformed in recent years, with new courses, a more rigorous approach and a stimulating super-curriculum, all of which give pupils the inspiration and the motivation to be ambitious and to succeed. Congratulations to staff and pupils on this summer’s excellent results. All of us at Teddies are looking forward to hearing from our new OSE where their studies and careers take them. On the evidence of this summer’s results, their futures are bright and exciting.’
