CCF Inspection 2018

We were delighted to invite Air Marshal Sir Christopher Harper KBE to inspect the Guard of Honour at this year’s CCF Inspection. Their rifle drills were as impressive as ever as they paraded to the spirited accompaniment of the Concert Band. The weather did its best to dampen proceedings but failed and the Contingent remained dry. As the parents, visitors, guests and OSE looked on the following prizes were awarded by the Air Marshal:

Sgt Oliver Ferneyhough, Army, Sword of Honour
Sgt Robert McKersie, RAF, Sword of Honour
CPO Thomas Glover, Navy, Sultan Award
Sgt Huw Neville, Army, Wakeling Stick
Cpl Ella Davis, RAF, Hopes Award

Commendation Awards

Cpl Danielle Lim, Army
Sgt Eleanor Bates, Army
Cpl Jack Verschoyle, Army
Cpl Kian Akhavan, RAF
Cpl Nick Elliott, RAF
Cpl Yves Rowe, RAF

After the Parade the Contingent formed up in front of the Martyrs Pavilion where Air Marshal Harper praised the CCF for their impressive performance and encouraged the cadets to remember that the skills they have developed in the Corps will prove to be of great importance in later life, whether or not their career follows a military route. He was sure that their parents would be just as proud of their achievements as we are. A buffet lunch was then served.

In the afternoon the Guard of Honour were rewarded for their efforts with go-karting in Oxford whilst two of our Lower Sixth cadets, Cpl Reha Soni and Cpl Sanders Lau were interviewed at RAF Brize Norton as part of a full day’s broadcast by BBC Radio Oxford to celebrate 100 years of the RAF.
