GCSE Success 2017

We are delighted to announce a record-breaking number of A* grades in today’s GCSE results.

A record 33% of all grades were A*, with 62% A*/A and more than 85% A*-B.

Warden Stephen Jones said, ‘These results are great testament to the hard work of our pupils and staff. The outstanding performance at the very top end means that pupils are truly embracing their studies and all the opportunities open to them to achieve at the highest level. We do all we can to motivate our pupils but the hard work must come from them – and I’m pleased to see in today’s results clear evidence that the vast majority have taken up the challenge.’

Deputy Head Academic, Matthew Albrighton, said, ‘The new numerical grading system has not yet been adopted by our exams boards and we have been pleased to spare our pupils the inevitable uncertainty this year. We will be looking carefully at how the new system plays out so that we are well-placed for next year’s cohort. Meanwhile, huge congratulations to the class of 2017 – these are a very strong set of results.’
