New York History of Art and Art trip
Seventeen Upper and Lower Sixth Formers went on the New York History of Art and Art trip with Mrs Hunter (Head of HA), accompanied by Mr Hahn (Head of Art) and Mr Jolley (Head of Ceramics), from 9th – 14th December. As on the previous two trips, we stayed at the very wonderful Hotel Wollcott on East 31st Street, just around the corner from the Empire State Building. Our schedule was packed: we visited the Frick, the Guggenheim, the Met, the Whitney and the Brooklyn Museum; we walked the Brooklyn Bridge and the High Line; we also walked across Central Park; and we climbed to the top of the Empire State Building and enjoyed the amazing views. The weather was kind to us and it was magical when it snowed as we made our way across the Brooklyn Bridge – yet we had bright sunshine for our walk along the High Line. Mr Hahn supplied us all with sketch books and pencils, and much shopping and general sightseeing was fitted in between our wonderful visits to the museums. I think it’s true to say that everyone had a remarkable time.
