Fiddlers on the Roof

A traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony took place in glorious sunshine this morning to mark the highest point in the build of the new Music School. Given the building’s purpose, music seemed essential, and we suddenly found ourselves with a ‘fiddler on the roof’ theme. Very many thanks to Jamie Fabian-Hunt and Lucie Tauveron who braved the ladders to play for us above the rooftops. It was a wonderful if slightly surreal event. The Warden ceremonially drilled a number of roof tiles into place after those present had signed them for posterity. The Ferguson Music School stood for over 50 years, so it may be some time before their signatures see the light of day. The Warden thanked Feltham’s, the firm behind the build, and looked forward to the Autumn when the Music School will welcome its first pupils.
