Tennis Report

This weekend saw the tennis team play a block fixture against Stowe, with 12 girls’ matches and 4 boys’ being played.

The senior girls travelled to Stowe for what was to be a very competitive day for all 4 teams. In the first round of matches, several went to tie-break indicating how close the day would be. The 1st VI lost 3-6 but played some good tennis and were unlucky not to win more. The 2nd VI lost 4-5 with Harriett Batstone and Clara Wilson winning all 3 of their matches; the 3rd VI won 7-2 and the 4th VI lost 4-5.

The boys also travelled and were confident after last week’s results. The 1st VI put in a very strong performance winning 8-1; the 2nd VI won 7-2 with Edmund Elvidge having to play singles after an injury to Harvey; the 16As lost 2-7 in some close matches and the 16Bs lost 2-7, with Ollie Cain and Rory Saldanha winning two of their matches.

At home, the junior girls played 8 matches: the 15As lost 3-6, the 15Bs lost 1-8, the 15Cs lost 3-6 and the 15Ds lost 4-5. The U14s had an equally tough day losing 1-8, 1-8, 2-7 and 0-9.
