DofE Expedition

DofE Gold canoeists took part in their qualifying expedition at the weekend. They paddled over 80 miles of the Severn, crossed three counties (Powys, Shropshire and Worcestershire), and camped ‘wild’ from start to finish. Although conditions were excellent – misty mornings, windless sunny days and golden evenings — water levels were low which made many stretches more technical than usual, and Jackfield Rapids were particularly challenging. Points of interest along the way included Buildwas Abbey, Ironbridge and the Roman city of Wroxeter.  The picture shows the group on Day 3 of the expedition approaching Cressage Bridge with The Wrekin behind.

Well done to those who took part:

Oddie Jamiyansuren
Theo Barker
William Bailey
