Summer Rowing

The summer break saw two members of the St Edward’s Boat Club represent Great Britain with Hugo Marsh again selected to cox the Great Britain eight at the Junior World Championships in Rio. The eight finished a very creditable 5th in the Final and this marked the end of Hugo’s incredibly successful time at St Edwards during which he has reached two Henley finals for the School and represented Great Britain at two Junior World Championships, winning a silver medal in 2014. Tilly Catlin was selected to race for Great Britain in the Coupe de la Jeunesse team this summer and performed superbly. She was selected to race in both the eight and the pair and has returned with 3 silver medals. She raced in the Great Britain eight which came second in an extremely close first race of the championships, less than half a second behind the winners, Belgium, and ahead of France, Italy, Hungary and the Netherlands. On the following two days she raced in the coxless pair and they again produced excellent performances finishing in silver on both occasions, just behind the winners, Italy. With another year here at St Edwards, Tilly has a great deal to look forward to.
