Bedford Star Regatta

The Boat Club had a very successful day at Bedford Star Regatta on Saturday. Ten crews made the final in their events and 5 of those were able to convert those final appearances into overall wins. Our girls were especially successful with event wins for our 1st VIII, girls’ senior quad and also for our Shell girls who won the J14 octo event extremely convincingly. On the boys’ side there were also wins for our Fifth Formers who won their coxed four event and our Fourth Form VIII who beat Bedford Modern, Eton and Bedford in winning the J15 A VIII event. There were several other excellent performances from our beaten finalists. The Shell A crew went down fighting in the octo event to the National Schools’ Champions, Radley, while the Shell B crew had their best result of the term in beating Bedford to reach the final of the B octo event where they lost to the Norwich School A crew. Finally Nick Elliott and Valentin Peiker were desperately unlucky to lose their final in the pair against older boys by less than half a second. A long day but a very good day for St Edward’s rowing.
