The Annual Fund: Your Gift for Young Minds
t St Edward’s we are passionate about providing an education that truly transforms the young people who come here. The breadth and depth of their school experience will have a huge influence on their future.
We have identified some high priority projects which will have tangible and immediate impact on pupils’ learning. These projects cannot, however, go forward through tuition fees alone, and this is why we are seeking your support.
We are proud of the impact a Teddies education has on a young person. This is why we are committed to increasing the number of bursaries to talented pupils who would not otherwise be able to benefit from what St Edward’s offers.
Every gift to the St Edward’s Fund brings us closer to funding a bursary, and helps us to plan our future bursary provision. This means that if you choose to donate towards Bursaries, you are giving more young people the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
Enhancing Learning and Creativity
As well as Bursaries, we aim to fund projects in departments where extra resources will take pupils’ learning to a new and exciting level.
This year we would like to fund specific areas of need in the areas of Design Technology, Music and Sport.
As well as traditional crafting techniques, Design Technology uses modern machines to allow pupils to develop innovative and creative solutions to human centred problems.
Donations from OSE have enabled the department to acquire a CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) Milling Machine which will allow pupils to produce workable products from a much greater range of their own ambitious designs.
Music at St Edward’s is truly dynamic and provides pupils with a huge array of musical opportunities. The brand new, state of the art Ogston Music School has been much anticipated by all pupils who enjoy music and is the perfect environment for our musicians’ creativity to thrive.
Thanks to the generosity of OSE, we have been able to acquire pianos for all twenty new practice rooms, as well as a transacoustic piano which combines acoustic and digital sounds, revolutionising piano teaching.
A chamber organ to accompany our choral and orchestral performances would be a great asset to music at St Edward’s and we hope to be able to fund this through donations.
Over the last five years St Edward’s has earnt its place amongst the top cricketing schools in the country. It has won the John Harvey Cup for the last three years, has produced the leading wicket takers in Wisden schools for two consecutive years, and has produced a large number of county cricketers. Yet for some time we have lacked the facility to train our many teams and our elite players both in season and out. We are now delighted that, thanks to the ongoing support of OSE, we have been able to build six bespoke, all weather nets. This has hugely expanded our training capacity and will make a massive difference to the cricketing experience of the boys and girls.
Making a gift: How you can play a part
None of these projects can go ahead as part of the School’s routine expenditure, yet they will make a tangible impact, both on current pupils and those we will welcome in the future.
Monthly, quarterly or yearly donations are particularly welcome as they enable you to manage your giving effectively, while allowing us to plan ahead efficiently.
To give online or download a donation form, please click here. St Edward’s Foundation is also registered as a cause on the Easy Fundraising website. This allows funds to be raised for the Annual Fund when purchases are made online at over 2,000 popular retailers, at no additional cost to the shopper. For more information, follow this link.
Donors whose annual gift totals or exceeds £1,863 (after Gift Aid), will be invited to become members of the 1863 Society. There are also tiers of membership for OSE aged under 35 and recent leavers who contribute smaller amounts. All members of the 1863 Society will receive recognition in the annual Donor Report and priority invitations to events.
