Graduate Assistants

Closing Date:

St Edward’s Oxford seeks to appoint a number of Graduate Assistants from a range of academic backgrounds, for example, History, Geography, Latin, Greek or Classical Civilisations, Drama, Modern Foreign Languages, Sport and Design & Technology from September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in teaching to acquire and develop relevant teaching skills and experience.

As a Graduate Assistant, you will initially support teaching within the classroom, gradually developing and progressing over the academic year to teach lessons independently, building on advice and guidance from Heads of Department and ‘buddies’ along the way. You will play a full part in the boarding and co-curricular life of the School, assisting in the delivery of our varied sports provision as well as additional learning outside the classroom across subjects such as music, language, drama and art and design.

You will be a personable and approachable graduate, with a strong academic background and a good honours degree. You will demonstrate a keen interest in developing a career in education and will be enthusiastic about joining in with all aspects of boarding school life: academic, pastoral, and co-curricular, sporting or arts. You will be a flexible and committed individual, with a willingness to help out where needed.

The role is for one academic year, with the possibility that the contract will be renewed for a second year in September 2025. Accommodation in shared housing with other Graduate Assistants in North Oxford is available at a very low rent. You will also receive free meals in term-time and a free Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellness Gym membership.
