Boarding House Non-Residential Matron

St Edward’s is seeking two Matrons to join the School from the start of Autumn term 2019. We are looking for both a temporary Matron to cover maternity leave and a Matron to be employed on a permanent basis in full time, term time only positions.

The Matron is an integral member of the team, working in a boarding house. A key aspect of the role is pastoral. Along with the Housemaster / Housemistress, the Matron helps to ensure the well-being of all pupils in the House. This includes the pupil’s physical and emotional wellbeing as well as their participation in School and House life. Appropriate training will be given to ensure Matrons are able to fulfil this role.

A high level of skill and knowledge is required to assist in the management of safeguarding issues, confidential personal and medical information, and managing difficult situations and the general joys and challenges of working with teenagers.

If you are able to offer a high level of pastoral care and have a good understanding of young people and have the ability to motivate pupils through a sensitive and supportive approach we would be delighted to hear from you.
