Pastoral Care

Our comprehensive pastoral care network supports our pupils during their teenage years at school.

The Deputy Head Pastoral, Rachel Bellamy, is responsible for the School’s highly-regarded pastoral care system. We have a Director of Wellbeing, Dr Julia Adlam, and a School Psychologist, Dr Emma Speed-Andrews. Tutors have around 6-10 pupils in their care, and are responsible for both their academic and pastoral lives. Pupils can also turn to our School Counsellor, Sophie Christie, Chaplain Revd Liz Boughton and the Sixth Formers trained as Peer Listeners for further support.

The Pastoral Steering Group — Chaired by the Sub-Warden and involves the Deputy Head Pastoral, Deputy Head Safeguarding, School Psychologist, Senior Nurse, Head of Learning Support, School Doctor and Chaplain meet bi-weekly to discuss the care of pupils as well as prevailing pastoral trends.

Peer Listening

In addition to our Prefects, Peer Listeners are members of the Upper Sixth, who have volunteered and been selected for specialist training, to undertake a pastoral leadership role in the boarding house. The role of Peer Listeners is to provide pupils with a more informal and less conspicuous method of aiding them with their concerns. In many cases it is much easier for a pupil to confide in a fellow pupil.

A positive place…this is a happy school.
