Teddies Telethon

Just after Gaudy in July, a group of enthusiastic sixth formers and recent leavers came back to School to take part in our telephone campaign to alumni. The purpose was to develop the great relationship we have with OSE and hear their news, as well as to raise funds for the School. After speaking with over 600 OSE over a two week period, a fantastic £70,000 was pledged. This will go towards funding Bursaries and meeting specific needs that will have a direct impact on pupils in the areas of music, sport and design technology.

Henry Johnson, last year’s Head of School, was one of the team of 13 callers,

“OSE spoke to us with real enthusiasm and genuine warmth about their old school. We heard some wonderful anecdotes which illustrated the vibrancy and joviality of their time here.

We felt especially driven to talk about the Bursary fund, because as pupils we had witnessed first-hand the positive effect bursaries can have on our peers. It was great to see so many people donate to Teddies.”

Carolina Rimoldi, Upper Sixth, was also part of the team,

“It was fascinating to hear how much Teddies has changed as a school in the conversations I had. Yet even for OSE who left the school many years ago, their house spirit has remained. As a pupil I feel extremely thankful for the difference the donations will make to life here at Teddies, be it on the sports fields, in the music or design technology departments, or within the school community.”

One OSE posted on the St Edward’s Society page on Facebook,

“I’m impressed by the fundraising campaign for what sounds like a wonderful bursary scheme. It was a pleasure to talk to one of the current Lower Sixth on the phone the other day and to contribute to such a worthy cause.”

Indeed, we were delighted by how knowledgeable and friendly all the callers were. They acted as great ambassadors for the School and its fundraising.
